When is my account created?
Your TAMUT accounts are created based on completion of your Workday onboarding tasks.
Here’s the typical timeline:
-
You complete your required onboarding steps in Workday.
-
Your accounts are created the next day (early in the morning).
-
An email will be sent to you hiring manager once the account has been created.
If you have completed your Workday tasks and it has been more than one business day or it is your first day and you do not have an account yet, contact your hiring manager or HR to ensure there are no outstanding Workday tasks to complete. If there are not, reach out to our Service Desk where we can troubleshoot the issue.
Account format:
Your TAMUT account format will be firstinitiallastname@tamut.edu (ex. John Doe, jdoe@tamut.edu). If you share the same naming format as another staff or faculty member, a number will be added to the end of your last name.
Set your initial password and MFA
Once your account is created, you must set your initial password and complete Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup before you can access TAMUT systems.
Initial password setup
Contact the IT Service Desk:
-
Phone: 903-334-6603
-
In person: UC257
The Service Desk will help you set your initial password and verify your identity. Note: We require photo ID to verify identity so please have that ready when calling or visiting us.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
As part of your first sign-in, you will be prompted to set up MFA, which adds an extra layer of security to your account.
MFA may include:
-
Microsoft Authenticator app
-
Phone call or text message
-
Other approved authentication methods
Important: You will not be able to access TAMUT systems until MFA is successfully completed.
Once your password and MFA are set, you can sign in normally.
What systems will my account access?
Your TAMUT account will be used to log into the below core systems.
Digital Backpack (TAMUT local resources)
The Digital Backpack can be accessed here, portal.tamut.edu. You will sign in with your username (firstinitiallastname) and password. Note: Do not add the @tamut.edu to your username as that will not allow you to sign in.
Use Digital Backpack to access:
Texas A&M System SSO (System-level resources)
You will sign in to the TAMUS System SSO by visiting this link, System SSO. You will sign in with the same format as the Digital Backpack after clicking on the TAMUT logo.
Use Texas A&M System Single Sign-On (SSO) to access:
TAMUT issued computer
Your email address (firstinitiallastname@tamut.edu) will be used to log in to TAMUT issued computers.
Note: If you are unsure which sign-in to use, contact the IT Service Desk with the name of the system you’re trying to access.
