AceMail is the official student email service at Texas A&M University–Texarkana and is powered by Gmail. All official university communications are sent to your AceMail account, so it is important to access and monitor your email regularly.
First-Time AceMail Setup
Follow these steps the first time you access your AceMail account:
Step 1: Go to Gmail
Open a web browser and navigate to:
https://gmail.com
Step 2: Enter Your AceMail Address
Your AceMail address will be in the following format:
first.lastname@ace.tamut.edu
Example:
john.smith@ace.tamut.edu
Step 3: Enter Your Default Password
Your default password is:
MMDDYYYY!Ace
Replace MMDDYYYY with your date of birth.
Example:
If your birthday is March 15, 2002, your default password would be:
03152002!Ace
Step 4: Create a New Password
Upon your first login, you will be prompted to create a new password for your AceMail account.
Choose a strong password that:
- Is at least 12 characters long
- Contains a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters
- Includes numbers and special characters
- Is not used for any other account
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the password change process.
Step 5: Set Up Account Recovery and Security (Recommended)
To help protect your account and make it easier to recover access in the future, we strongly recommend completing the following steps:
- Click your profile picture in the upper-right corner of Gmail.
- Select Manage your Google Account.
- Click Security & sign-in from the left-hand menu.
- Add a Recovery Phone Number.
- Add a Recovery Email Address.
- Enable 2-Step Verification.
These security features can help you regain access to your account without needing assistance from the IT Service Desk.
Signing In After Initial Setup
After completing the first-time setup process:
- Navigate to https://gmail.com.
- Enter your AceMail address.
- Enter the password you created during setup.
- Complete any 2-Step Verification prompts if enabled.
Troubleshooting
I Forgot My Password
If you have configured recovery options, follow Google's password recovery process.
If you are unable to recover your account, contact the IT Service Desk for assistance.
I Cannot Access My Account
Please contact the IT Service Desk. For security purposes, identity verification may be required before account access can be restored.
